How to Choose Blackout Shades or Blinds

Blackout Honeycomb Shades by 3 Day Blinds      One of the questions our Design Consultants are asked most frequently is “What are the options to create total darkness in a room?”  Custom-made Blackout Shades are a great option for media rooms  and rooms for day sleepers, among many other applications.  Fortunately, they have many options to offer!  Here is an overview of the blackout products that we carry:

Honeycomb Shades (pictured above) are the most popular option. We offer dozens of colors, fabrics and cell sizes in our Blackout Honeycomb Shades (sometimes called Cellular Shades).  The room darkening fabrics in this collection are completely opaque and will block all light from the outside.  These shades also feature a very small light gap of 1/4″ or less on either side when mounted inside the window, and they stack very tightly when raised, maintaining your view…  plus Honeycomb Shades are great for insulation and reducing energy bills year-round.  They’re also available with some great options and upgrades, the most popular being the Top Down / Bottom Up Shade that can be lowered from the top or raised from the bottom so that you can let the light in from above and maintain privacy below.

Other 3 Day Blinds products that offer blackout materials within the assortment include Roller Shades, Roman Shades, Flexcell Honeycomb BlindsHorizontal Sheer Shadings,  Faux Wood Blindsl and Hunter Douglas Architella Duette Shades.

“Here in the Phoenix-Scottsdale area, we have a lot of requests for Blackout Shades,” says 3 Day Blinds Design Consultant Kimberly Brock. ”With the bright sunlight and heat that we have here in the summer, many of my clients want to create a retreat within their homes where they can control the light with interior lamps when the shades are down, and I can always find the right solution within our product selections.”
