Functional Drape and Curtain Ideas

When you think of Curtains and Drapes, the word “decorative” might come to mind. And, while it’s certainly true that Curtains and Drapery Panels can add extra style to any interior, they may serve many practical purposes as well.

Keep Out the Cold

Those choosing window treatments for homes in cold climates should consider pairing Cellular Shades with luxurious, floor-length Drapery Panels. This combination acts as a blanket for the home, and adds a warm coziness that just can’t be gotten from Mini Blinds.

Light and Privacy

In kitchens, an abundance of natural light is generally considered a good thing. After all, you want to be able to see what you’re cooking, and there’s nothing like eating your morning oatmeal in the sun. Café-length Curtains provide a dash of pizzazz, just enough privacy, and a great view of the morning sky.

Warmth and Elegance

The combination of Sheer Curtains and opulent, 200% fullness Drapes can make for a stately, elegant living room. The Drapes provide privacy at night and insulate the home. Sheer Curtains allow light in during the day, and protect the Drapes from the dust that might get in when the windows are open.

A Cocoon of Respite

In bedrooms, Drapes can be fitted with our room-darkening liner, which can be used to eliminate the light gap around the outside edges of other window treatments, such as Roller Shades or Honeycomb Blinds. This is also useful in media rooms, where you don’t want stray sunbeams ruining you and your family’s cinematic experience.

Just Enough Sunshine

A light-filtering liner can be added to Curtains and Drapes located in rooms that receive a little too much sun. These types of linings typically pay for themselves, as they reduce cooling costs, and protect furniture and carpet from damaging UV rays.

We’re Here to Help

At 3 Day Blinds, we offer Curtain and Drapery Panels in just about any configuration you can think of. Whether you want to convey the regal opulence of a Victorian mansion, the clean simplicity of modern minimalism, or the homespun comfort of a country cottage, we’ve got you covered.

We at 3 Day Blinds offer free, no-obligation consultations with our experienced Design Consultants. Fun and Safe Window Treatments for a Kid’s Room

As we mature, some of our tastes get a little more refined. After a long commute, we might want our bedroom bedecked in colors that soothe the mind. However, that’s not necessarily the case with kids, who tend to want window coverings that are playful and bright.

Color isn’t the only consideration that should be taken into account when choosing window coverings for a child’s room. We all want our children to be safe, first and foremost. Second, choosing a durable window covering for a kid’s room is another smart idea.

3 Day Blinds offers options that fit the bill on both accounts with fun and safe window treatments.

Wood and Faux Wood Blinds

Our Wood and Faux Wood Blinds are a wise choice for the children’s room. The natural wood really warms up an interior, making the kids feel right at home. The faux wood offers the natural look of wood at a lower cost, and it is moisture resistant as well. As you might imagine, that often comes in handy when kids are around.

And further, choosing the liftless option with our Wood or Faux Wood Blinds eliminates the standard lift cords, which can pose a hazard to little ones.

Roller Shades

Our Roller Shades are available in playful colors that children will love, and they are great for keeping your youngster’s room shady when it’s a little too hot to play outside.

When installing roller shades in a kid’s room, go with the cordless option, or instead select the motorized, remote control system. Both options eliminate potentially hazardous lift cords.

Cellular Shades

Like Roller Shades, Cellular Shades are available in cordless or motorized options, which is a definite child-safety plus. They are also among the most energy-efficient window treatments around, acting as a blanket for junior’s windows during the cold season, and filtering out solar energy during the summer.

With so many colors available, we’re confident you can find one that will complement your décor, and make the kids say, “Wow!”

Child safety is very important to 3 Day Blinds.  All products manufactured by 3 Day are in conformance with the current voluntary American National Standards Institute for corded window covering products. We are proud to provide safe window treatments that are also attractive decor elements for any space.

Plantation Shutters

Adding Shutters Inside Your Home 3 Day Blinds

Plantation Shutters

Adding Shutters Inside Your Home

When you think about shutters, the first thing that comes to mind might be the kind meant for the exterior of one’s home. But, interior (or plantation) shutters are making a comeback among the interior design cognoscenti, and with excellent reason.

Interior shutters quickly add style and value to a home. They are often seen in restored historic buildings, as they possess a high degree of old-world-style authenticity. Not only that, but they are also extremely durable and easy to maintain, and provide excellent privacy, insulation and light-level control.

Plenty of Options for Interior Shutters

Our timeless hardwood shutters are available in richly painted, stained and rustic finishes, and our durable polymer shutters come in a variety of whites and off-whites.

The options, however, don’t end with finishes and materials. Our plantation shutters are available with 2 ½”, 3 ½”, or 4 ½” louvers, astragal or rabbeted stiles to reduce light gap, magnetic or button catches for securing your shutter panels to the window frames, and more.

Of course, we offer our shutters in many configurations, as well. Whether you’re looking for a set of café shutters for the kitchen, a bypass shutter for a sliding-glass door, or custom shapes such as arches, octagons or circles, 3 Day Blinds can customize your interior shutter solution with ease.

Plantation Shutters for Every Application

Generally, it is best to select polymer shutters for areas where moisture or messes are a potential issue, such as kitchens, children’s bedrooms, and bathrooms. They boast the appearance and texture of our hardwood shutters, and they are water resistant, non-toxic and fire-retardant, too.

The double-hung configuration is especially popular for bathrooms, as it offers both extra privacy and natural light simultaneously, as the top and bottom panels can be independently operated.

Despite the practical advantages that our polymer shutters afford, the richness of real hardwood is difficult to deny. Bedrooms, studies, dens and any other rooms that could use that extra touch of class are all ideal applications for hardwood plantation shutters.

Will Interior Shutters Work With My Décor?

Plantation shutters have been around for a very long time, and lend themselves well to a period-correct restoration of a Greek Revival or Federal-style home. However, their clean lines and ageless style make them a versatile window treatment, and a welcome design addition to nearly any home. 3 Day Blinds plantation shutters complement any style of interior, from art deco, to mid century, to ultra modern.
