3 Day Blinds Attends the International Window Coverings Exposition

A few of us from the 3 Day Blinds corporate office hit the road this week and attended Vision ’11, the International Window Coverings Expo (IWCE), in Las Vegas.  We met with suppliers of fabrics, components, finished products, machinery and services to look for ways to improve our products and services to our clients. We were also looking for partners to co-market our products with.

We were excited to see  a lot of visitors and fantastic new products that that will help us evolve our product lines, both in terms of fashion and technology.  We reviewed thousands of new fabrics, in beautiful new color palettes, many with an environmentally friendly story and looked at soft fabrications and new interpretations of classic drapery and soft shade styles.  Updated wood finishes and woven wood patterns ranged from exotic to tailored and classic.  Next generation motors were featured, including some that are charged by solar panels!  New inventions to make window treatments safer were also on display, and the newest machines to automate production were demonstrated as well.

When it comes to custom blinds, shades and shutters, we at 3 Day Blinds like to stay on the cutting edge of fashion and innovation.

3 Day Blinds Event at Sears’ Corporate Headquarters – A Smashing Success!

At 3 Day Blinds, we love our partnership with The Great Indoors, a division of Sears.  In fact, we have a store-within-a-store in every Great Indoors location.

So, last week we took our show on the road to Sears’ corporate headquarters in Hoffman Estates, IL to introduce our custom blinds, shades and shutters, and offer a free in-home design consultation to the 6000 people who work in this gleaming, massive facility.

Our set-up included displays and photos of our products, and 3 Day Blinds personnel from both the corporate office and the local Chicago market were in attendance.

Sears Team Members gather to learn about 3 Day Blinds’ products and offers.“This event was a smashing success,” said Ronen Nandi, Manager of Targeted Marketing at 3 Day Blinds.  “There was a crowd around our display the entire time, with lots of interest and great questions.  We also scheduled 40 in-home design consultations with Sears Team Members.”

In addition to providing information and offering free consultations, we had an exciting drawing for an Apple iPad.

Was the free in-home design consultation a special offer for Sears’ employees only?  Actually, we provide it for anyone in need of new custom window treatments.  Just call 877-614-3329 to schedule an appointment at your convenience, and an expert 3 Day Blinds Designer will come to your home and help you choose the best custom window coverings for your style, light control needs and budget – plus they will measure, provide a free quote and arrange for professional installation.  In most cases, your new blinds or shades can be installed in 3 Days!  Amazing!

On the Road, Reviewing Fabric Lines

The merchandising team from 3 Day Blinds hit the road this week to look at new fabric collections from our suppliers, along with new styles for the updated custom drapery, soft roman shade, top treatment, valance and decorative hardware collections that we will introduce later this year.

We loved what we saw!  Fresh colors and color combinations, including muted color palettes, fresh blues, combinations of darker colors, and new twists on the classic color combinations.  Patterns included bold stripes, large florals, tropicals, modern geometrics, fun novelties and traditional jacquards.  The challenge will be to edit these thousands of beautiful fabrics into a smaller collection.

We also toured factories to look at the latest technology for making these products.  The new innovations we saw improve the quality, the productivity through manufacturing and inventory management.

It is great to get out of the office once in awhile and to see custom window treatments actually being made, whether it is in the 3 Day Blinds factory, or through one of our suppliers.

Customer Recommendation for Angela Helton

Dear Angela,

I want to thank you again for the wonderful job you did for me. You came on Tuesday, my windows were measured on Wednesday, and installed two days later on Saturday.  You kept me updated on time and arrivals of the people that came for installation (which was a great company).  You helped me choose the best products to help with my needs for blocking the glare of the sun, as well as for color and style. Your company should be very appreciative to have a representative like you.

I am very happy with the work, as well as the installation. Good job.

Thank you,
Zsa Zsa

Customer Recommendation for Deborah Anderson

Hi Deborah,

I just want to thank you for helping me choose the Cherry Wood Blind for my side window. A friend came by today and installed it for me, and I really think that it was the best choice for that window.

Thank you!

Real Wood or Faux Wood Blinds? Tips for Choosing.

Wood Blinds by 3 Day Blinds are made from the finest hardwoods and are finished with a low gloss stain to highlight the grain.

One question we are often asked is how to determine whether to purchase genuine Wood Blinds or Faux Wood Blinds.  3 Day Blinds Design Consultants are trained experts to help homeowners determine the right solution during the free in-home consultations that they provide, but here are some guidelines:

Advantages of Genuine Wood Blinds

  • Wood grains look richer
  • Lighter in weight, therefore easier to lift and lower
  • Horizontal spacing between ladders is wider
  • More color and finish options

Advantages of Faux Wood Blinds

  • Less expensive
  • More durable – less likely to warp, crack or peel, particularly in high-moisture environments
  • Provide the same look as wood in painted finishes

Both Wood and Faux Wood Blinds

  • Have decorative ladder tapes that can be added for a finishing touch
  • Can be upgraded with our Light-less feature
  • Come with beautifully sculpted valances
  • Are custom-made to the client specifications with top quality materials and components
  • Can be delivered in 2 days after order is placed

Faux Wood Blinds are durable and great for high-moisture areas.

We asked Jeanette Nouribekian, a top 3 Day Blinds Designer serving the Calabasas and Woodland Hills areas of California how she helps her clients decide.  “First, we evaluate the environment.  If we are updating bathroom or kitchen where there is a lot of moisture present, or if they are trying to stay within a tight budget, I recommend Faux Wood Blinds. On the other hand, if we are looking at a living room area with a lot of rich wood grains, I offer the option to coordinate with one of our genuine Wood Blinds.  In cases where the client wants to match the paint color, I recommend Faux Wood Blinds, often upgraded with the sculpted Coronado Valance,” says Jeanette. “Very often both options would be very appropriate and the decision then becomes one driven by aesthetic preferences.”

If you are ready to outfit your home with brand-new, custom made blinds, shades or shutters, our expert Designers are ready to bring the showroom to your home.  Just call us at 877-614-3329 to schedule your free in-home design consultation, or click here to meet Jeanette or your local 3 Day Blinds Designer.

3 Day Blinds Manufacturing Team Kicks off Zero Defect Program with BBQ

Frank Gutierrez, SVP, Manufacturing and Supply Chain, and Xavier Esparza, General Manager, Manufacturing put on their aprons and cook up a storm for the whole team.Zero defects from a factory that customizes 1000+ window treatment products with 6000 components in sizes from 8″ x 8″ up to over 200″ wide and 156″ in height, with dozens of unique options and upgrades that are made and shipped the day after the order is placed?  Sounds impossible, but the team at the 3 Day Blinds factory is focused on that goal.

To celebrate their already excellent quality record, and to kick off the next phase of the program where teams with focus like lazars on any materials or processes that can be improved, the management group treated the entire team of 160 people to a BBQ last week.  “Compared to the competition, our defect rate is very low, in fact, we’re very close to zero defects already,” said Frank Gutierrez, SVP, Manufacturing & Supply Chain, “but we are striving to be the best we can, and the whole team is on board to make this happen.”

“We’re always busy, and focused on producing and shipping top quality custom blinds and shades, each with unique specifications.” said Xavier Esparza, General Manager, Manufacturing, “So, it was great to cook up a great meal and have a little celebration and fun on a sunny day.”

If you’re ready to deck your house out in perfectly and precisely produced custom window treatments made by this fabulous team, call us now at 877-614-3329.  One of our expert designers will visit your home, help you select the best products for your application and budget, measure your windows and arrange for installation.  Order your new custom  blinds or shades today and the team at our factory in Ensenada, Mexico can have them over the border tomorrow and deliverred the following day!
